Janet Liang is currently an active performer and teacher based in Vancouver Area. Raised by a musical family, Ms. Liang first began playing the violin at age of 6- her professional training took place at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in Shenyang, China.

As a soloist, Ms. Liang has performed internationally in both Canada and the US. As an active chamber musician, she has been invited to perform at the Chautauqua Summer Festival. Ms. Liang has collaborated with colleagues in duo ensembles performing frequently in the Greater Vancouver Area.

Ms. Liang’s professional orchestra experiences include the first violinist at the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and extra musician at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. While she was in the US, she served as an associate first violin at the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in orchestras such as Santa Barbara Opera, USC Thornton Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, Downey Symphony Orchestra, YMF Debut Orchestra, Chautauqua Music Festival Orchestra, Korean American Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Liang received her Bachelor of Music degree at the Vancouver Academy of Music at the Thompson Rivers University in Vancouver, Canada, and Master of Music degree in violin performance at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. Her principal teachers included Andrew Dawes (First violinist of the Orford String Quartet and Professor Emeritus at The University of British Columbia School of Music), Robert Rozek (Pupil of American virtuoso violinist Nathan Milstein), Alice Schoenfeld (Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld Endowed Chair in String Instruction), and Henry Gronnier (First violinist of the Rossetti String Quartet). Additionally, Ms. Liang has performed in master classes of renowned violinist Vadim Gluzman, pedagogues Roland and AlmitaVamos, Glenn Dicterow (Concertmaster of New York Philharmonic Orchestra), Sidney Harth (Former Concertmaster of Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Nathan Cole (First Associate Concertmaster of Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra), and Jacques Israelievitch (Former Concertmaster of Toronto Symphony Orchestra).

Ms. Liang performs at events as a soloist and with her friends as a quartet group in the Greater Vancouver. Ms. Liang enjoys teaching and she believes music can bring joy to one’s life.
